Supported languages

Thanks to Whisper, VoxWave can transcribe speech in 99 languages. You can force a specific language or let automatic detection do the work.

• Automatic detection: Whisper identifies the language within the first few seconds
• Forced language: set the language in settings for better results
• Multilingual: you can switch languages between dictations

The VoxWave interface (menus, settings, messages) is fully translated into 15 languages:

• French, English, Spanish, German, Italian
• Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese
• Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Polish, Swedish

The interface language and transcription language are independent. You can have the interface in English and dictate in French, for example.

VoxWave automatically removes hesitations and filler words in 15 languages, even in regex mode without AI:

• French: euh, heu, ben, bah, genre, en fait, du coup...
• English: uh, um, like, you know, I mean, basically...
• Spanish: eh, pues, o sea, bueno, este...
• Japanese: ええと (eeto), あの (ano), まあ (maa)...

You can change the language at any time in settings:

1. 1Open settings (tray click or hover widget > gear icon)
2. 2Go to the General tab
3. 3Select the dictation language from the dropdown
4. 4The change takes effect immediately — no restart needed
